5. Kassa/KOŠICE -Miskolc Ultramarathon – COMPETITION NOTICE

The purpose of the competition:

  • Continuation of the international ultramarathon running competition organized for the first time in 1999 by the Miskolc Marathon Club and restarted in 2019.
  • Provision of competition opportunities for amateur and professional sportsmen in individual, doubles and relay categories.
  • Inclusion of the competition in the sports program series of the “Visegrad 4s”.
  • Expanding the range of events that cross the Hungarian-Slovak border
  • Further deepening of sports friendship between the Hungarian and Slovak running community
  • Increasing the sister city relationship between Kassa and Miskolc. The inclusion of sister cities Ostrava and Katowice in the event
  • Presentation of the sights of Kassa, Miskolc, Kassa County and Borsod-Abaúj-Zemplén County.

Route of the race:

Miskolc – Sajóvámos – Szikszó – Hernádkércs – Abaújszántó – Vizsoly – Gönc – Kéked – Nyizna Mysla – Sidlisko Krasna-Kassa

The route of the race is mostly on cycle paths and low-traffic roads, and on the Slovak and Hungarian sides it also touches dirt roads once in a while.

By entering online or by filling out the registration form, competitors accept the conditions of the competition announcement and competition regulations.

We can accept the cancellation or transfer of the entry before the event, until midnight on March 15, 2023, only in writing, via the e-mail address mate.brogli@maratonclubmiskolc.hu. In this case, 75% of the paid amount will be refunded.

The condition for receiving the start packages is to fill out and submit the Declaration of Responsibility at the race office! The Declaration of Responsibility can be downloaded from the website www.maratonclubmiskolc.hu.

Individual starters and pairs have 15 hours, while relays have 14 hours from the start to reach the finish line.


The route of the race will be marked on public roads, dams, along the banks of the Hernád River, bicycle paths, low-traffic public roads, and dirt roads. Driving next to the runners is strictly prohibited for safety reasons! Bicycle attendants wearing official, unique vests can only ride behind the runners, temporarily and for a short time next to them! The security of the route is carried out jointly by the Kassa, Miskolc and Borsod-Abaúj-Zemplén county police with the cooperation of the organizers, civil guards and public area inspectors.


On the route, there will be 9 official refreshment points at the 9 changeover points, as well as additional refreshment options (water, grape sugar) in several other affected settlements. Of course, it is also possible to replace liquid and calories at the finish line.

Dream Team:
A special prize will be awarded to the fastest runner of each stage. As a result, at the end of the competition, we will announce and call the ten-member “Dream Team” to the podium.


The field is accompanied by a medical team, with ambulances and motorbikes. Their phone number will be found on the start number and in the Program booklet. If any member of the medical staff deems that the competitor is not fit to continue the race, they may remove their starting number or exclude them from the race.


It is the task of the respective team to transport the individual competitors to and from the changeover points with accompanying cars. Escort cars may not accompany the runner during the individual sections!

The runners are accompanied by a closing car, after the completion of the level time of each section, the change points are closed, and the route leading there is no longer secured. (detailed dates in the Program Booklet!)


You can only relay at the designated relay point! 


As a participant of the V. Kassa-Miskolc Ultramarathon, the participant obligatorily accepts and undertakes to comply with the provisions of these competition regulations. You acknowledge that the participants named through registration are covered by these competition regulations.

The participant declares that he will start the V. Kassa-Miskolc Ultramarathon healthy, at his own risk, physically and mentally prepared for the distance and category of his choice. The Organizer is not responsible for the deterioration of your health.

The participant acknowledges that recordings may be made of the participant during the event. The participant consents to the taking and use of images and recordings, and acknowledges that the Organizers may use them for communication, marketing and promotional purposes, in commercials and in the media.

An essential condition for taking up the start package is the signing and handing over of the Declaration of Responsibility at the competition office, both for teams, individual competitors and pairs. It is important that, in the case of teams, it is no longer possible to change members after signing the Declaration of Responsibility. To pick up an individual and alternate start package, you need an identification card or a power of attorney signed by two witnesses.

The race route is marked with signs, arrows, tape and paint. Following the route is always the responsibility of the competitor running the stage. On the route, the Organizers, civil guards, public space inspectors and policemen help the progress, and the competitors are obliged to follow their instructions in all cases.

Runners ahead in the race can be accompanied by a motorcyclist within sight to ensure accurate time credits. In the event that the timing system fails, the motorcycle attendants manually record the passage of the points and the time lost at the level crossings.

During the race, the start number is worn by the participant. Anyone who folds, covers, or wears their race number in a way that is not clearly visible during the race will be disqualified.

In addition, those who do not complete the entire distance designated by the Organizers, who fill out the entry form and the Declaration of Responsibility inaccurately, or who do not correspond to reality, or fill in incompletely, may also be disqualified.

The participant obeys the instructions of the traffic control staff at railway crossings. In the event of a red signal, crossing is prohibited and life-threatening, competitors who violate this will be immediately disqualified!

The participant acknowledges that the Organizers provide updates at all changeover points. Garbage generated during the competition should only be thrown away at the refreshment and changing points, from where the Organizers will transport it. Throwing garbage on the route is not allowed, breaking this will result in immediate disqualification.

The participant accepts that the Organizers will ONLY provide the teams with the opportunity to change at the designated changeover points, where the timing will also take place.

It is FORBIDDEN to roller skate, run with a dog or other animal, and complete without a starting number! The participant acknowledges that in case of violation of these, he/she may be immediately excluded.

On the entire route of the competition, at the points and on the route, any advertising and marketing activities may only be carried out with the prior written permission of the Organizers!

The age limit for participation:

individual category: over 18 years of age

Double category: over 18 years of age

5- and 10-member relay category: 16th year, with written parental consent

The organizers are not responsible for valuables left in accompanying cars and in accommodation.

The participant acknowledges that the entry fee does not include insurance, and everyone must take care of it themselves.

A competitor can only compete in one team. An individual competitor cannot be a member of another team at the same time.

The competition organizer reserves the right to change the location, time and course of the program.

Vis Maior

The participant acknowledges that if the competition is affected by an unavoidable external cause (force majeure), especially but not limited to weather conditions, natural disasters, strikes, blockades, lack of route permits, or other unforeseen, extreme or unplanned events and cannot be held due to an unavoidable reason, the Organizer will assign a new (supplementary) date (about which it will provide official information) and the entry fee will not be refunded. The competition organizer reserves the right to change the location, time and course of the program.

In case of non-competition

The Participant acknowledges that if the competition cannot be held at the newly appointed additional time, the Organizer will announce the cancellation of the competition, cancel the invoice issued for the entry fee and refund the entry fee as follows:

I.) 78% of the entry fee within 5 days after the cancellation invoice is issued

II.) while the remaining 22% within 120 days after the cancellation invoice is issued

In case of stormy weather, the organizer can temporarily or permanently suspend the competition at any time and then restart it. The organizer publishes information about the competitors during the competition on social media or via the website www.maratonclubmiskolc.hu.
